The tradition of skill transfer is still strong in the artisan communities in South Punjab, our area of work, and other rural areas of Pakistan that we have worked in. It is so exciting to see young girls join mothers, older sister or cousins during our sampling workshops on our visits. It reminds me of the way we learned to sew, knit and spend time with family members making endless products. With no internet or computers, this was the way of life.
With the advent of the digital age, the hobbies and interest for girls have changed but it has also created opportunities for communication with our teams and work goes on more effectively long distance. Something not possible before.
