It's a challenge to maneuver the layered field of textile hand made products especially when working with home based women artisans who have to juggle a variety of important chores.
The process starts with the initial idea conceived by the team of designers, progresses to design details, fabric and the final drawing and sampling. The whole process can take weeks or months depending on the availability of raw material before it get to the women who will get to work on it.
We at Sheworks have come to respect and appreciate the whole process of hand embroideries and patiently wait to receive the finished products. Each piece of hand work comes with the stories of the maker. We know she sits between mealtimes, when she has to cook for the family, to quickly finish a section, sits up late at night to start where she left off.
We are constantly striving to expand the circle of women artisans in rural areas to be able to finish our orders in time for some of our incredibly understanding customers.
Each handmade piece is unique and different from the other. That is what makes it so special and worth waiting for. In the coming weeks we will be showcasing some of our work on the website
