It has been a unique experience working and getting to know the groups of women artisans we collaborate with. Our design patterns planned and envisioned in our studio come to life when the women start working on the process of embroideries. We work together on stitch techniques, textures, colours, the groups who will eventually work on the pieces. All the time staying tuned and being sensitive to the culture in the areas of work.
The artisans pass on their depth of knowledge amassed over generations to our young design team as they interpret our designs. A mutually enriching experience for both transpires as we interact.
We work with groups in different communities, choosing a leader who will oversee and supervise the work. Hand work is a slow process especially when the women working with us have to balance family responsibilities with our deadlines.
